Acute Optic Neuritis Clinical Trial
OCTAGON is the name given to a multicenter clinical research study designed to explore
the effects of the drug glatiramer acetate on visual function in people with acute
optic neuritis (AON). Glatiramer acetate is currently being used in the treatment
of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). The objective of this study is
to determine if glatiramer acetate is effective, safe, and tolerable in reducing
the amount of axonal loss in the optic nerve after a first event of AON.
As study sponsor,
Teva Neuroscience is looking for people between the ages of 18 and 45, who
have been recently diagnosed with a first event of AON, to participate in this study.
Our goal is to match interested volunteers with participating clinical research
facilities.
Side effects, some potentially unknown, may be possible.
